First Lego League Robotics Challengers

Date: November 22, 2016

Suncoast Robotics has had yet another successful year and expanded to include students from Years 3 – 10 who have been collaborating to create robots capable of a variety of challenges.

Guided by Primary teacher, Mrs Robyn Reeves and a wonderful band of parent helpers, the teams competed in various competitions and the experience has been described as, “challenging and a lot of fun.”

Suncoast was one of four private schools on the Coast to participate in the higher level First Tech Challenge contest, and under the guidance of Mr Gavin Tomlins and Dr Paul Harrey, overcame great odds and received 9th place out of 12 schools. Congratulations to our Year 8-10 First Tech Challenge Team.

Our Year 5/6 First Lego League team received a very high score in their project, while our Year 3/4 teams received awards for ‘Gracious Professionalism’, ‘Team Spirit’ and for ‘Explosive ideas and explosive team energy.’

We are very proud of our students and we look forward to what next year may bring in First Lego League.
