Athletes Shine at Regional Track and Field Trials
Date: September 11, 2017
We have again watched in awe as our athletes competed at the Regional Track and Field Trials last week and to have 6 of them now qualify to compete at the State Championships next term.
Brooke Keller once again impressed all by not only winning the 14yrs Triple Jump but breaking the Sunshine Coast Record with a jump of 11:34m. She also won the long jump with a huge jump of 5:46m and has also qualified for the High Jump, Hurdles and 200m.
Jessica Keller has qualified for the 16yrs Triple Jump and High Jump, with Zane Gilder also qualifying for the 17yrs High Jump. Conrad Atkins has also qualified for the 14yrs Triple Jump and Sam Morgan won his 100m Hurdles to qualify but unfortunately Sam has been plagued by an injury this year and may not be able to compete.
Grace Eegdeman has qualified in the 15yrs 200m Hurdles but narrowly missed out by 1 second to make it in the 800m and 1500m, but she definitely gave her all. Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed – Emmalee Stephens, Joel Tuite, Braiden McIntyre, Petro Janse van Rensburg, Tom Wischnat, Aiden Cox, Arden Quilliam, Lulu Twidale and Ned Burns. You all competed well against some of the best athletes in the state and Suncoast is very proud of your efforts.
We wish all athletes who now go on to compete at the State Championships in October the very best.
