CREATIVE GENERATION

Archives

A new creative generation of high-achieving Suncoast visual art students exhibiting work and achieving critical acclaim.

In 2021, four Year 12 students entered the Creative Generation competition, only open to Queensland students who receive an ‘A’ for their artwork at school.

Olivia De Wet, Ruby King, Aleesha Malins and Noah Power entered their Senior work, the most entries Suncoast has ever submitted. Over 500 students from 181 schools entered the competition, with only 5 students from the Sunshine Coast award receiving an Excellence Award.

At the Creative Generation exhibition at Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy, Aleesha Malins received a Commendation Award (the top 100 students in the state) while Ruby King received an Excellence Award.

The Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art

Ruby’s work will be exhibited with 36 other students at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art from April through September 2022.

To view the full list of the state award – and hopefully, they release the digital exhibition visit the QAGOMA website.

Mini-Auditorium Renaissance

Recently the students held their own on-campus pop-up exhibition in the mini-auditorium. Please view video samples of their work

Our community is ridiculously proud of our hard-working Visual Art students and the dedication of Bindi Brien and her team.

Congratulations to Aleesha and Ruby, but also to the cohort who have bravely and consistently worked to further their artistic skills and creative thinking.
