7 Suncoast students and 14 Unity College students recently travelled to Japan for 2 weeks during the school holidays. The students visited many cultural places like Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum/Miyajima Island, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, Matsumoto Castle, Edogawa Primary and High Schools and enjoyed a wonderful experience with their homestay families. Strong friendships were formed as there were many tears when our students had to leave their Japanese homestay families.
Our cultural experience continued as we visited fun places like Disney Sea and journeyed up into the mountains where we saw snow and had snowball fights. We travelled to many places throughout Japan icluding Osaka, Takayama, Nagoya, Toyama, Matsumoto and Tokyo. Everyone had an amazing time, one of the students says, “It was the most fun I have had in years”, while another student commented, “I can’t wipe the smile off my face.”
