Playing at the “Worlds’ Largest Touch Tournament” is no mean feat. Two of our Suncoast teams, the U15 Boys and U18 Girls, played an outstanding tournament across 5 days of the competition last week on the Gold Coast. This year attracted over 450 teams across 7 divisions.
Suncoast has been sending Touch teams for 7 years and for a school smaller than others represented at the comp, we definitely “punch above our weight”. The U15 boys came away with 3 wins and 3 losses while the girls finished with 2 wins and 4 losses. We are so proud of all students who participated and their amazing sportsmanship displayed throughout the competition. Both teams played on the showcase fields which were live-streamed and displayed many skills and tactics which they have been practicing all year. We hope to continue our representation at the tournament for years to come.
A special thanks to Joel Tuite and Joshua Cox (2019 Alumni) for coaching the U15 Boys and for TJ Philip (2012 Alumni), Georgia Martin and Nade Scherman (both 2020 Alumni) for coaching and mentoring the girls alongside myself.
