Sam Chosen for Queen’s Baton Relay
Date: March 13, 2018
Congratulations Samson List who has been chosen to run in the Queen’s Baton Relay later this month in Hervey Bay. The Queen’s Baton will travel more than 40,000 kilometres over 100 days and be held aloft by 3,800 torchbearers one of which will be Samson.
“I am still coming to grips that I will be part of this amazing relay and I am so grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity,” Sam said.
Sam has Cystic Fibrosis, the most common, genetically acquired life-shortening chronic illness affecting young people. He has had numerous hospital admissions, general anaesthetics, bronchoscopies, needles and takes over 10,000 tablets every single year.
Sam said, “I am going to be running 50 metres before the intersection of Charlton Esplanade and Main St in Pialba on 25 March, anticipated segment start time is 1:55pm. They say the baton is about 1.5 kilos so I have been practising holding a block of wood high in the air.”
What an honour and memorable experience. We will be cheering you on Sam.
