Students Harness Their Passion for the Environment
Date: May 14, 2018
Recently, 9 members of the Suncoast War on Waste leadership team along with 300 other environmental leaders from schools across the Sunshine Coast, attended the Unity Water Field Day for Sunshine Coast Kids in Action.
Kynan Boyle, Abby Moses, Indianna Delahaye, Lily Evans, Jack Odgers, Paris-Grace Blythe, Emma Willis, Jasmine Waddell and Louisa Finau enjoyed a day jam packed with activities, including tree planting and environmental contribution measurements, seed catapulting, Indigenous craft, sea animals, geological lessons, mural design and construction.
The proceedings were opened at La Balsa Park by members of the Gubbi Gubbi people, Councillor Jenny McKay and Unity Water representatives.
Our Suncoast students exploration experience of living coastal communities, including hands on revegetation and regeneration, Indigenous cultural experience and green arts of urban infrastructure has harnessed their passion for the environment as well as developed additional skills to take leadership within our College to realise true change.
