Students Excel At Languages Speech Contest

Archives

Last weekend the annual MLTAQ Speech Contest was held at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Between 700 – 800 students from schools in South East Queensland in Years 3 to 12 competed in 7 different languages, presenting a speech to a panel of judges.

This year we had 8 students from Years 4 to 6 compete. There were a lot of nerves as it is a pretty scary thing to speak in another language in front of people you don’t know, but we are so proud of all our students who decided to step up and give it a go. They are all language champions and should be congratulated for their hard work and efforts in preparing for this event.

‘Complimenti’ on a great job against some tough competition. Congratulations to the following students for participating and a special congratulations goes to Noah who won first place in the Year 4 Italian division and to both Ivory and Portia who were awarded Highly Commended.

Year 4 – Noah List, Ivory Gilbert and Portia Nagle
Year 5 – Emily Hocking and Georgie Hicks
Year 6 – Zahra Gilbert, Madi O’Hara and Elena Shaw
