10 Year Anniversary for Suncoast Netball Club

Archives

Suncoast Netball Club has just completed its 10th season of netball!

Our club began in 2012 starting with just 4 teams participating in the Sunshine Coast Netball Association on Saturday mornings. Suncoast Netball has seen a generation of netballers grow throughout the last 10 years. Some of the youngest players who joined the club in 2012 as NETTA players, have continued to play since the beginning and played their final game for Suncoast last Saturday. We also have other inaugural members who are now coaching our current players!

It has been amazing to have a number of people still involved in the club who have been there since the beginning. A special mention to Megan Bourke who was integral in helping start the club and who has continued to coach teams and support the club in so many ways. Thank you Megan for your many hours of service and for all you have contributed to Suncoast Netball Club. Also a special mention to the following people who have been a part of Suncoast Netball throughout the last 10 years.

Samara Honey – played in the first Suncoast Sapphires team and is now coaching Suncoast Spirit (Yr 7 and 8 girls)
Georgia Martin – played in the first NETTA team – continued to play right through and was club captain in 2021.
Cate Russell, Shani Hungerford, and Madison Cayley – joined the club as NETTA players in 2012 and have just played their final game for Suncoast. Well done girls!
Sandy Honey – started coaching for Suncoast in 2012 and continued to coach for a number of years, now continues to be involved as an umpire.

Over the last 10 seasons, we have grown to average 10 teams a season, with this year including our youngest players ever in the Net Set Go Program.

Suncoast Netball Club has had another wonderful season in 2021, with 4 teams competing in the semi-finals last Saturday. Congratulations to all teams and players for everything you have achieved. We are so proud of you!

Special congratulations to our Suncoast Spartans who, in their first year of full competition, are competing in the Grand Final this Saturday 11 September at Fishermans Road. We wish every player the very best of luck. Supporters are welcome to come and cheer them on.
